Megan consistently provides outstanding care for our little patients. Megan is a skilled and proficient nurse. She is able to care for the most critical children in our department. She cares for each of the children as if they were her own. She is not afraid to stand up and speak out to advocate for her patients. She is a Clinical Coach and spends extra time mentoring new nurses. But what really sets Megan apart is the "little" things that she does. She has a way of caring for patients that makes them feel like they are her FAVORITE. She is especially wonderful with our special needs patients.

Many parents have recognized Megan for her ability to connect with their child and make them feel comfortable. Parents ask to have her as their nurse often. Megan has been known to go the extra step to bring a smile to a child's face. She will come in on her day off to bring a special treat for a patient, work on unit projects or help with staffing. Her commitment to the patients is unwavering.

One of Megan's hobbies is horseback riding and training horses. Once we had a young boy who was very sick on our unit. He loved horses, and would ride around the department on his toy horse. Megan cared for this patient for a few days, and the family adored her. The following day Megan brought in her own riding helmet from when she was a child to give to the boy. For the rest of his stay we watched him wear his new helmet and ride around the unit. This is just one example of how Megan cares for her patients in a way that extraordinary.

She is a teacher, a leader, a mentor, a friend and an inspiration. She is truly deserving of this recognition.
