Our family would like to thank you and honor a very special nurse, Megan Taylor, for the sweet exceptional care she provided not only for L but also his family.
L was very ill but Megan's excellent clinical skills gave us confidence in the care he was receiving. Her care for him was constant and we never had to go hunt for her to provide anything. She stayed either in the room or just outside the room and was there as soon as he had a need.
Nurses practicing in critical care areas are expected to be clinically competent and Megan certainly was but the compassionate role a nurse provides cannot be taught. It comes from the heart of the individual. Megan was so compassionate to L's mom who is 95 years old and traveled 8 hours to see her eldest son. She talked to her, gave her hugs, and even got a pillow to put in her wheelchair to help her be more comfortable as she sat for hours by his bedside. She offered drinks and snacks to the family and tried to make everyone as comfortable as possible.
Megan never made us feel like we were in her way. She realized how important it was for us as part of a large and close family to be with L during that time.
Although these things may seem small to some they were very big to us. By the end of two 12 hour shifts, Megan felt more like a member of our big family than his caregiver.
We truly appreciate her and will not forget her bright smile and calming confidence. She is truly a DAISY Nurse.
