One Saturday the IMCU started the shift with several challenging patients. Amongst them was a patient who constantly displayed hostile non-verbal communication. He became verbally aggressive with male healthcare workers and refused their services, and restlessly paced the halls. This patient also refused to leave the hospital until we provided transportation to Seattle. Meghan was assigned to this patient. First and foremost, Meghan remained calm, respectful and attentive to her patient. Meghan realized the discord created by her patient disrupting an already tense shift. She researched and found one of the few available buses. She bought the ticket with her own money and promptly discharged this difficult patient. Unfortunately, I immediately had to assign her a complicated ER admission moments later. Meghan took the new assignment without any hint of resistance or frustration. This is only one example of many I can provide that demonstrates Meghan's value as a team member at Legacy.
