1st nomination from a family member:

Melissa has been our nurse several times during our three weeks stay. She has demonstrated compassion, gentleness and professionalism at all times. We look forward to seeing her every time she has a shift. We love her.

2nd nomination from a coworker:

We had a patient that was suicidal. Melissa was the nurse and I was the sitter for the patient. During our shift the patient picked up something from the floor and put it in her mouth. I called for help and Melissa was the first to help me out. We were able to get the patient to spit out what she had in her mouth. The patient began to throw her body into the window. Melissa put her arms around the patient and sat on the floor and just hugged the patient and talked to her till she was calm. She made the patient feel she was safe and cared for. She also was concerned for me and was checking on me.

3rd nomination from a coworker:

Melissa welcomes everyone with a smile and offers her assistance during a busy, stressful times. She never refuses to be a preceptor and is making an effort to improve her IV initiation skills. Patients return to the unit when healthy to see Melissa and thank her for the excellent nursing care.

4th nomination from a coworker:

Melissa was so good with Dr. X's daughter and family when his daughter was on our unit. Dr. X's family raved about her compassion for their daughter's care. She goes above and beyond every day on our unit.

5th nomination from coworker:

She is always by my side during critical situations. I had a patient crashing and she never left my side. Melissa made phone calls, drew labs and provided me with support I and the patient needed.

6th nomination from a coworker:

Melissa is a very happy and nice person to work with. She is always willing to help no matter where she is. She is one of our best nurses on the unit and I have a good time working with her. Very positive and very caring person.

7th nomination from a family member:

Melissa has demonstrated extreme care and compassion. She was very informative and walked our family every step of the way. She did the little things that she did not have to do. We really appreciate all that she did for us during this extremely hard time. It's so nice to have someone caring for your loved one who is so passionate about what they do. We truly see Melissa as a blessing. She is truly an angel without wings.
