The first night that she started taking care of me is why I want to recognize Michelle. Every nurse is busy during their shift and they do not always have the time to sit and talk to someone. The first night she was caring for me, I had a breakdown in front of her because I suffer from depression and anxiety. She stopped everything she was doing to help make sure I was okay. At that time, I couldn't see goals in my future. I was scared of being homeless because when I am discharged, I do not have a definite place to stay. Michelle sat down with me. She calmed me down. She told me to stay positive and reminded me that I am only 20 years old and have my whole life to make things better. Michelle told me to stop dwelling on my past and reminded me that my focus needs to be on the present.
I could write down our entire conversation, but I think you see why I want to thank Michelle. She helped me see my potential and the goals I have for my future. The 3 nights that she was my nurse have really benefited my mental health. Each night she made time to see how I was doing, checked to see if I needed anything or if I just needed to talk. It is rare to find a stranger who will take the time to get to know you so they can help you as a person. Thank you!
