Michelle Sandy is one of those extraordinary nurses who deserve recognition for her work ethic, attitude, and a keen sense of responsibility. During the nine days my husband was a patient, she was his nurse on her weekly day shifts. She took the time to get acquainted with him which eased him into a more comfortable state of mind. She listened to his silly jokes and interacted in a happy, friendly way which he thoroughly enjoyed at that time. Her quiet, gentle spirit did not go unnoticed. She was attentive to his every need whether it be giving him a sip of water, a bite of food, his meds, or straightening up his bed to make him more comfortable.
One evening, her calm and quick action in handling his crisis situation were remarkable. As I stood outside his room in the hallway, I began to realize he might not make it and my emotions began to surface. After some time, Michelle came out and comforted me, staying with me until one by one the other team members came out to let me know he was stable. Her loving care and attention given to my husband as well as me during this crisis was overwhelming. It was not only her concern for my husband but also for me that gave me a renewed appreciation of what a nurse goes through every single day in their job. Michelle's loving care and attention on his final day at JP will not soon be forgotten. Her strength of character, her kind, and caring, compassionate ways, her strong loving support shown to me throughout my husband's hospital stay are superior traits of a deserving nurse. Thank you, Michelle Sandy, for being a remarkable nurse and person.
