Michiah was recognized during Leadership Rounding by a Patient who was recently diagnosed with cancer and was very depressed after getting this news. He stated that he "never would have made it without Michiah " and that she "brought life back to his soul". He stated that he was very down and depressed but Michiah was "straight" with him and came in one morning and brought him towels and wash cloths and told him that he was not going to get better lying in bed all the time and told him he needed get up and get washed up and sit up in the chair. He stated, "that doesn't sound like much, but that's exactly what I needed" and that after incident it turned his whole perspective around and he decided to stop lying around and start fighting for himself. He stated that in addition to the incident, she was always very patient with him and made time to sit and talk with him when he needed that. Patience was key in this case because this Patient had a trache which made good communication much more challenging and time consuming. He could not stop talking about how great she was and he stated the he wanted to make sure that she was recognized for the impact she had on his stay and really, his life.
