I just wanted to tell everyone how wonderful Mike is. We had a patient come in that was having an attack of his PTSD. When he came into the room initially he backed himself into the corner and was very hesitantly cooperative. The only thing keeping him calm was the Bridgeton police officer that was with him, he kept referring to him as "my brother".

Mike was aware there was something going on in the back hall so he walked around to check on us. He came into the patient's room and talked to him about what was going on with him and where he was at that moment regarding his flashback. Mike shared his stories with him about being in the war and knowing what he was going through. The patient talked openly with Mike and you could see the trust immediately in his eyes while they talked. At one point the patient was tearful on Mike's shoulder and Mike just stayed and talked to him. Throughout the day while the patient was here, Mike came to check on him frequently.

I know that to Mike this is just his everyday self and not something that he would consider a big deal, and really that makes it even greater. This is an example of someone truly giving something extra to a patient and their job, a true "above and beyond".
