My husband and I went to Mission to have our son. We went in for an induction that evening. The next morning, my OB doctor told me that it was likely we would have to have a C-Section, as my son's heart rate began to drop. Being a first time mother, I was absolutely terrified; I had never spent the night in a hospital. I had never had surgery of any type, and I was terrified that something was going to happen to my baby.
We were told at Noon that we would have to have the C-section, and by 12:30 PM, we were prepped and ready for the OR. I was emotional, and an amazing nurse, Mikki Kidd walked with me every step of the way. Mikki let me know what was going to happen next and assured me that I was in capable hands. She not only helped me but also explained everything to my husband and made sure we were well informed and cared for.
Then two years later, we were scheduled for a C-section to have our second child. We were extremely excited; however, we were also a ball of nerves. Upon arrival at Mission's Labor and Delivery location, I became more and more nervous and excited as the time drew near. We had a very warm greeting by the staff and were ushered to our room to prep for surgery.
The OB doctor came by along with the CRNA, and low and behold, a welcome and familiar face, Mikki was there for us yet again. I immediately began to cry and instantly felt comforted by this familiar stranger. Mikki again went above and beyond the call of duty to care for me both before and after surgery. Mikki made sure that I was informed of what was happening to me and to my baby, she again ensured my husband was a part of the entire process.
Mikki is an amazing nurse, care giver and person. We are forever grateful to Mikki and Mission Hospital for helping us to bring home two very happy and healthy children!
