Mindee Mills, RN, CCU. Mindee was faced with the difficult task of discussing withdrawing care of a critically ill patient with the patient’s wife and daughter. The compassion she displayed when handling this situation did not go unnoticed by a coworker, who nominated Mindee for the DAISY Award. Mindee displayed genuine care by remaining very professional, asking prudent questions and answering the family’s questions with both confidence and compassion. When the patient’s daughter broke down, Mindee simply embraced her and began a quiet prayer. The calming effect was immediate.
