I need to pass on how impressed I was with the care my brother and family experienced in ICU. All of the staff treated us with respect even though we were breaking some of the rules with all the family members present. Nancy Wimer was absolutely incredible. We were never wondering what was happening or what condition he was in. We were constantly updated!

Nancy was his nurse as he deteriorated. Every single family member commented on how concerned she was and how diligently she was working to improve his condition. In addition, her concern and what your staff did to expedite the care of his wife when she developed chest pressure and shortness of breath was unbelievable. She found out last week that she needs OHS as a result of her breast cancer treatment damaging her mitral valve. As soon as they found out she had chest pain they went right into action to get her to the ER and directly bedded so she could return to be with her husband as soon as possible.

Even though her nursing care was absolutely incredible, the most meaningful memory my family will have was when we found out that Nancy was to go off shift but requested to stay and continue caring for him and was subsequently present when he passed. Even though we knew Nancy was genuinely concerned, when she cried with us we knew that he was truly cared about and for.

Although this experience did not end the way we wanted it to, I could not go without passing on how incredible your staff is with making a terrible family tragedy a good experience. I believe that is not only a reflection of the type of nurse Nancy is, but also a reflection of the nurse manager in supporting the nurse. Kudos to you, Teri, Nancy and the rest of staff in ICU!!
