Nenette cares beyond the walls of St. Francis. Coming back from an Oncology Congress conference late one evening, she was waiting for her husband to pick her up when she noticed a lone individual who was obviously lost and probably scared. The gentleman works for the Merchant Marines and had just flown back from visiting his family in the Philippines. He was to catch the ship in Charleston to his next port of call. Because it was late a night and he was alone and unfamiliar with the area, Nenette and her husband asked if they could help in any way. They took him to his lodging where he was to stay and Nenette gave him her phone number to call if he needed any more assistance.

The next morning on her way to work, Nenette received a call from the gentleman. His ship was still in New Orleans and the company would fly him there but he had no money for getting back to the airport or his baggage fees. Nenette took the time to talk with this man and keep him calm, and then called her husband to take him back to the airport. Without hesitation, Nenette offered him money for his baggage fees and enough for a few meals.

Nenette went out of her way after a long trip to help someone in need. This tremendous act of kindness speaks volumes about her caring nature - both within and outside the walls of St. Francis.
