Nick was my child's nurse for a few days. Of all the nurses we had during the 10-day stay, he was the most engaged with our children. He played with them, talked to them like they were people and was quick to respond to all of our needs and requests. When my daughter was scared of having her IV replaced, he brought her one (minus the needle) to show to her and explained how it works. She spent all day pretending to start IVs on us. He has a good way about him and we really appreciated it.

Nick is in his element as a pediatric nurse on 7C. I recall a shift where he quietly walked down the hallway to the treatment room, while carefully nestled in his arms was a sleeping infant. The parents, entrusting Nick with their infant's care, patiently waited in the room while the procedure took place. In another instance, I remember hearing the playful banter between a two-year-old and Nick, as each cheered "hey! G-baby!" back and forth. And don't be fooled by the burly nurse you see, because if a little girl on the unit wants to paint someone's nails, Nick is the enthusiastic and willing client for her needs. In experiences like that, it has become clear that Nick possesses the natural and heart-warming ability to establish a genuine sense of connection with his patients. As a nurse, Nick carries out his duties with a strong sense of assuredness, balanced with a light-hearted spirit of comfort and care. It is no wonder why families have easily identified Nick as a nurse they would trust with the individuals they value the most. Nurses like Nick are the spirit of what makes pediatric nursing special!
