Maya Angelou wrote "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Her calm demeanor, caring nature, genuine concern, and utmost compassion for patients, families, and colleagues are just a few of the qualities that makes this individual an outstanding nurse practitioner and proves this quote to be true.

Whether Omega is caring for Cardiology patients in the outpatient area or the inpatient setting, whether she is simply educating a patient about an upcoming procedure or about their medications, it is always evident that she truly cares about all of her patients and their well being. Patients and their families would never know that she and the cardiologist have over twenty patients to see in a day. This nurse practitioner is authentically present when she is with a patient, actively listens to what is being said, and can intuitively get the patient to reveal what may have been left unsaid. She always takes time to ensure that her patients understand their diagnosis and are comfortable with their plan of care. Between her wealth of knowledge about cardiology and peripheral vascular disease, her ability to communicate effectively with patients and families, and her indisputable concern for others, This nurse consistently provides compassionate, competent care.

This nurse practitioner is not only well respected by her patients; she is also tremendously valued by all of those with whom she works. Her colleagues can always count on her to work as part of the team and her expert knowledge and approachable demeanor make her an invaluable resource to the Cardiology staff.

In addition to being a cherished colleague and providing the highest quality of care to patients at Einstein, she also volunteers her time to precept and mentor advance practice nursing students - specifically those seeking to become nurse practitioners. Like other preceptors, she educates nurse practitioner students about how to provide proficient clinical care and develop excellence in practice. However, nurse practitioner students who are fortunate enough to learn and receive guidance from this individual gain much more. They have the opportunity to witness firsthand through an amazing role model how a nurse practitioner can positively impact a patient's life and their outcomes. I count myself lucky to have been mentored by her when I was a student and could not be happier to have the opportunity to now work with her as my peer.
