My grandmother was admitted to the critical care unit. She knew her prognosis was grave and she wanted to be a DNR. This decision had been made in advance with much thought given to it. I am an RN and she discussed this with me several times. She understood what was going on and was adamant about her decision. Her son, my uncle, was assigned as her Medical Power of Attorney and he did not agree. My grandmother was critical and pleaded with me. I talked to Padi and asked if there was anything she could do. Padmeni listened to the patient, and heard the voice of the patient and advocated on behalf of her so that her wishes would be honored. She was kind and caring and listened to the patient. She contacted the MD, my uncle, and hospice and Palliative Care. My grandmother died peacefully and I, her granddaughter (RN), am forever grateful to Padi for advocating on behalf of my grandmother, the patient.
