Paige Slaughter was nominated for her recent connection with a patient that actually began from a previous patient's inpatient stay on Med-Surg. Paige shared her story at the daily huddle on Med-Surg as we discussed our "mission moments". Paige was the primary nurse for this patient and she and the patient had connected over canning vegetables during the patient's first stay. Paige told the patient that if she met up with her again that she would bring her a jar of her canned green beans. Unfortunately, for the patient, she did have to be admitted to the hospital again for another inpatient stay. Paige was excited to make sure that the very next day she brought the patient a jar of her canned green beans just as she had promised her. As Paige ended her story she said, "I just love her." That is a common theme from our patients that they truly feel the nursing staff cares for and loves them. Outstanding connection with a patient and great follow through. Paige and this patient will have a long-lasting connection, which will be shared with other patients, families, and friends. By connecting with our patients in personal ways, we are getting the word out of what an awesome team we have and how much we care for our patients.
