Pam recently spent hours of extra work for a patient that needs a lung transplant, but because he has no insurance, is not a candidate. She worked with medical centers both in Georgia and St. Louis, trying to find a way to get the patient a transplant, and when nothing came of it, she set out to get him insurance so that he would be eligible. Pam has a genuine respect for our patients and shows them dignity in how she treats them.

Recently, we had a patient get the tragic news that she did not have long to live. When Pam heard this, she quickly came upfront where the patient was checking out and embraced her, they were both in tears. Pam asked what she could do for the patient, who replied that she was ready to pass on. Pam said that she would be praying for her and to call her if she needed anything. In the weeks prior Pam had spent a lot of time on the phone with this patient about her testing, she found out the patient had a difficult home life and little to no family support.

One day I received a call at the front desk; it was a patient of our office calling to let us know her sister, also a patient, had passed away. The patient was very upset and got off the phone very quickly. Pam called the patient to share her condolences and see if she needed anything. Pam spoke with this patient with words of kindness and love. Pam also wanted to make sure the patient took care of herself. The patient wanted to cancel her own appointment with our office, but Pam suggested she keep the appointments as to not jeopardize her own health. The patient agreed to keep her appointment.

Pam gives her full attention to the patients; she hears what they say and offers thoughtful and compassionate input. She has a gentle demeanor and a sympathetic attitude, she reassures the frustrated patient, consoles the fearful patient, and comforts the grieving family member.

Pam is an amazing woman, an extraordinary Nurse, and a truly inspirational human being.
