I wanted to tell you about something special that happened today as well as bringing recognition to a very special nurse, Pat Eve. A patient was scheduled to be transferred back to her skilled nursing facility in Plainwell .... before the day shift even came in. Pat took over care at 0700. EMS had already been scheduled to pick up the patient. However, Pat noticed that patient wasn't behaving in an appropriate manner. She continually communicated with Dr. B with her concerns for this patient. The end result was the patient did not go back to her SNF, but was actually admitted with a ruptured AAA, a Vascular Surgeon was called in and scheduled for surgery.

Also, something else to be explained: The patient's son had a previous experience with Bronson Hospital with a horrible outcome (expiration) of another family member, so he was extremely anxious about his mother's care. After the consulting, nursing and admission process were completed, the son was very grateful/appreciative of the care given to his mother. So much was saved today, due to the valiant/persistent efforts of a great nurse as well as a great physician. I'm so proud to be a part of such a dynamic team and wanted to share this with you. Bronson pride and positivity... to the fullest extent.

THIS is the type of nurse I would want taking care of my loved ones...whether it's my 80 year old mother or my 5 year old grandchild. She's fantastic and should be recognized for doing her job extremely well.
