I have been a Nurse for 32 years; 28 of those years at Columbus Community Hospital. Pat was my mentor when I first started working nights in the old Hospital. She has been a nurse for 47 years. She taught me small town nursing when I first came to CCH. Back in thosedays,we responded to ER, obtained EKG's, drew labs, and responded to just about anywhere throughout the house. She was always a hard worker. She was flexible, hardlyever called insick, workedweekends to support her family, and she worked full time while taking care of her ailing husband andmother. She adapted well to the ICU at the new CCH, which isn't so new anymore. She mastered computer charting. She was a mentor to the new staff coming out of school today.
Pat worked along with 4 or 5 of us back in the day. While working full time she would make Ambulance runs to Omaha and Lincoln when Midwest Medical was first starting their business. She just recently retired from the ICU in August, but she presently is working part time now over at Occupational Health. She loves giving flu shots and helping with wellness. This past summer, this nurse was working as through occupational health, who worked with severalde-tasselingcrews. Braving the heat and working some long days with high school students who came to know her as "Grandma," she loved every minute of it. She just enjoys helping people and keeping busy. Occupational Health is lucky to have her.
