Peggy Brenner's persistence in knowing that there was something wrong with a patient helped save her life. The patient has a very low platelet count, <20, and complained of a severe headache. After multiple calls to the attending physician with no results, she reached out to me for orders as a consulting Nurse Practitioner for the patient. A STAT CT of the brain was ordered and revealed an acute or chronic subdural hematoma.
Peggy's concern for her patient saved this patient. She should be commended for her advocacy.
