From the son of a former patient: "I can't begin to describe how amazing this facility is and all of its caring and compassionate staff. It's so very difficult to be going through this extraordinary life-altering situation, but without the help and patience and teaching from nurses like Rachel I couldn't do it! I'm here all day every day and late night and I see and know who's really good. Rachel is unequaled!"

...

A member of our inter-departmental selection committee called the son whose dad was our patient. The patient spent 4 months at Magee after an injury. The son was in tears as he spoke of Rachel's caring attitude in everything she did for his dad. He said that Rachel educated his dad and himself every step of the way, including aspects of care that weren't comfortable to talk about, bowel routines and respiratory care. The son said he felt totally prepared to care for all his dad's needs upon discharge. When he first came to Magee, his father's anxiety level was extremely high, and he would call out because he felt like he was trapped in his own body and no matter what Rachel was doing she made sure his dad was comfortable and not afraid. His dad said that when Rachel was there, he knew everything would be done the way it was supposed to be done.

The patient now resides in a long term care facility, however because of the care he received from Rachel, his anxiety level is decreased and he can direct his care. He is able to do more now because of the training he received from Rachel. Rachel utilized every person on the team to care for his dad. She went way above and beyond and she demonstrated respect in everything she did.
