Rachel has shown exceptional care for my mother every day that she was assigned to her. She became another family member to us. Before my mother was transferred to Hospice, she bathed her because “she had the time” and wanted to be sure my mom was well cared for before she left 200 South.
Thank you Rachel!

Rachel cared for Ms. Yambor who spent the last 6 months of her life on 200 South. Ms. Yambor requested Rachel daily and it was known by all that if Rachel was working, she was assigned to her without question. Rachel demonstrated such compassion; coming in on off days to see her and visiting her on the Hospice Unit once she was transferred. She spent a lot of time making sure Ms. Yambor and her family understood everything and spent “extra- special” time with Ms. Yambor’s special need daughter.
Rachel worked on projects with this daughter so that she could give them to her mother and even made Ms. Yambor a small photo album of her favorite 2 South Nurses so that she would not miss them while on the Hospice Unit.
Once Ms. Yambor passed, Rachel attended the funeral which meant everything to this family. Although months have passed since her death, Rachel is still in contact with the family. I know if Carol Yambor was still alive, she would nominate Rachel for the DAISY Award. For all of the love and support Rachel gave to the Yambor family through their journey, she is most certainly the kind of nurse that the DAISY Award was created for!
