Gina dealt with a patient who was extremely sensitive to pain. The patient came into the triage area crying out in pain with every contraction, when her IV was started, and throughout the spinal procedure. She was screaming so much so that the anesthesiologist was unable to complete the spinal and the patient ended up receiving general anesthesia. The patient's mother was at her side, trying to control the situation and was very upset that she was unable to be with her daughter during her C-section. The patient and family remained challenging during the recovery period in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. Additionally, we did not have a PCA pump available on the unit and the transporter delivered an epidural pump instead of a PCA pump- escalating the situation. Despite all of this, Gina remained calm and kept her composure. She was excellent, an example for all of us.

Gina routinely provides compassionate care to patients and their family members. Under her care they truly experience comfort. Her colleagues also appreciate her competence and enjoy working with her. She has been a true blessing to the L& D team.
