I was in your ICU unit back in mid-August. I am sorry it's taken me so long to write you about one of your employees who was my nurse while I was there. I am actually still recovering from my illness but my gratitude for this nurse still is fresh in my mind.

Rene is the RN I want to tell you about. First my condition was more serious than I knew at the time and it's probably the most serious thing I have ever faced yet in my life. While I was in the care of Baptist Health Louisville and Rene Madison I felt none of the anxiety that one would expect with my condition. I was totally at peace and felt like I was in the hands of God himself because of her.

She was nothing less than a supportive voice and professional who made me comfortable. She would answer questions if she could, let me know what procedures were being performed and while never giving false hope had such a wonderful optimistic demeanor at all times. She knew exactly when to administer meds and in particular pain medications at just the right time such as just before a procedure was to be done (i.e. draining of lung and arm I pic). When I couldn't sleep but finally did she politely made sure I got rest by letting visitors know my situation, which I had asked of her.

I was at Baptist for 17 days and had many caregivers but Rene was beyond a doubt the best I had and that is saying something because the care I got elsewhere in the facility was mostly way above average too.

It's hard to explain but I guess the best way to is to say that facing the most serious health issue of my life was a breeze while I was under her care.

I wanted to fill out a "WOW" card but failed to, so please let this letter serve as my thank you.

If all health care professionals were as good as Rene Madison , hospital stays would be a lot easier on patients.

Please let Renee know I wrote to you to express my thanks, maybe it will help to make her day better as she did mine while I was in the ICU unit.
