Robin Evans has been on oncology nurse for 27 years. She has always had a special connection and empathy for cancer patients. This truly caring spirit for cancer patients has driven her to be the best nurse possible. She is always totally focused on assuring every patient she cares for has the very best patient experience. Robin not only assures her patient has the best care she goes beyond that she monitors all patients on the unit as a night charge nurse. She is a keen and observant nurse who checks labs tests and is never hesitant to speak up for patients in need of something to make their stay better. Patients who have had her as a nurse comment on her excellent care.

One evening I observed her reviewing lab results. She found the patients WBC count very high and became concerned about the patient being septic. A condition C was called and the patient was taken to the ICU. She had been attentive to detail and feel this patient may have a less than favorable outcome. As an outstanding nurse she does not miss any detail. She provides volumes of information on the complex patients and put it all into perspectives as to what the priorities are for the best outcomes.

As I round on patients and constantly get told how amazing the care is and how wonderful she is to the patient and family. She is an outstanding mentor and a great teacher. She has a special place in her heart for cancer patients and has unfortunately learned of our oncology patients first hand. Her personal fight against cancer has been done with bravery, humor and positive determination. She has taught us how to be strong in difficult situations and has always been an inspiration.
