Robin Vellucci

Robin has been an RN for over eight years on our Children’s Behavioral Unit within a not-for-profit psychiatric hospital. When she arrives at work, she has a noticeable smile, an energetic aura, and positive comments to make. She is ready to “take on the day.” She wants to be challenged. Mediocrity is not in her vocabulary. Robin will ask for special projects to do and proactively works to support the unit philosophy while communicating consistently.

Robin is dedicated to the children and gives individual attention to each one in the community. She supports all of her patients and has become a “lice detective”, dealing courageously with any infestation that a small child may bring to the unit. Daily she enriches the children with materials, songs, and games from home in order to conduct diverse groups. She encourages listening to the upbeat music of singers the children may know from popular culture. She conducts music groups that richly add to emotional healing for the patients. Is it any wonder that the patients look forward to Robin coming to work?!

She is a role model for other nurses on her unit and throughout the hospital. During difficult moments that can arise on the unit, she has an ability to assess situations quickly and prudently and later, she will self-reflect with a desire to always improve. She is firm and knowledgeable without ever being harsh.

Robin started a very special scrap book that she has been adding to since she began working at the hospital. It contains letters, notes, and hand-drawings given to her by the children and/or their families. We are proud to add Robin Vellucci to our “scrapbook” of extraordinary DAISY nurses!
