I am the caregiver for a patient who was treated at your facility. I felt compiled to write about the amazing experience we had as we were pushed through the medical system with a very complicated case containing multiple health issues that required multiple doctors to work together as a team. The patient was at multiple facilities in Texas and Oklahoma as well as Medical City Dallas all within the last 4 months, giving us somewhat of an expert opinion on patient care, comfort, and overall experience.
For the patient's latest surgery, we found him in ICU at Medical City Dallas. I want to say you nailed it when you hired 7th floor ICU Nurse, Rodney. To say he is amazing is an understatement! Recognition is a must for this RN. We came out of a 100% successful surgery and Rodney was the nurse on duty. As I celebrated the fact that your surgeon just nailed a surgery that had 80% failure rate, having been through numerous surgeries before, and believe me when I say I know the drill by now, my expectations raised above the bar of excellence for Medical City Dallas, great job there. Rodney shined above and beyond when he took charge and assessed the patient with an expertise that you could tell consumed him. I marveled at his technical and bedside manner when the patient came to and he was scared, anxious and kind of angry. Rodney smoothed us, not just moving the patient quickly into ICU as if our insurmountable worries of death were nothing he could not and had not fought off many times before. I watched him work; he seemed to instinctively calm the patient down. He somehow gained the patient's trust almost instantly. Rodney put us at ease, explaining his moves in a way we understood what he was doing. His exhumed control and he was there to do everything he could, it was all to help the patient, and he knew just what to do and her just doing that. He was not just doing his job he was there to save the patient. Explaining what was expected to happen next and steps for progress, continued to gain my trust. He shared he had numerous years of experience and it showed with his every move. I was so comfortable that the patient was in safe hands that I went home and slept. Never had that happened after surgery. I know Rodney had my back, my phone number and he got me to believe I too needed care and to relax. He seemed to know what the patient was going to do before he did it and was ready to help him before he even knew he was going to need help.
Amazing, simply amazing experience a thank you is the least we can do.Mr. Rodney is a keeper! Rodney truly loves people and helping people. Heck, I was not even the patient. He went the extra mile for us and I bet he does that for everyone. I knew he was an angel sent from God when a wave of relief came washing over me as I saw him walk back in the room at shift change. I knew, my relief was here, I could go home now and get some rest too.
