Romy recently took care of a 63-year-old female who came in after the death of her father who was 85. The patient was brought by her brother who couldn't care for her. She looked like she hadn't showered in a while. Her hair was matted and had lots of different things stuck to it. Her fingernails unkept and 2+" long along with toenails. Romy asked if we could possibly cut her hair. He had tried conditioner but was unable to comb it out. Romy offered to cut it and I assisted him because everyone else was afraid of what was in the hair. Once cut, the smile on the patient's face was thanks enough. We conditioned the hair, and now she is able to comb it. We also cut her nails and polished them. The doctor cut her toenails. She looked and felt great. Romy always makes sure all patient care needs are met. Mind, body, and soul.
