This is Roni's Second DAISY Award:

Roni demonstrated how professional and devoted she was after my wife was at Seton for three days. I greatly appreciate that there still are people like Roni. It was heartwarming to have her as my wife’s nurse and lucky that she worked throughout the same time of my wife’s stay. Every time I had a question she never hesitates to answer with patience and in a way that I would understand. I’m a very sensitive man going through my wife’s bilateral mastectomy. Roni was even able to make me comfortable since I had no clue on how to help my wife, I felt very, very helpless but Roni with a lot of charisma would talk to me and give me examples of previous couples and situations she had dealt with. Even at the time of discharge from the hospital Roni was very generous to help us carry out things to the car, she really showed nobility of character. Roni may God bless you, all the staff that helped us and the Seton Hospital.
Second nomination:
Roni was not my daughter’s assigned nurse but she saw me waiting in the hall to talk to “our” nurse about needing something different for pain to help my daughter. Our assigned nurse, Jeni, had stopped the PCA and administered oral medication, but my daughter’s pain got significantly worse. Roni said Jeni was busy and said she would help. She let us know that the preferred method would have been to leave the PCA active for one dose when trying to give the first dose of oral meds to take effect. Roni came up with the idea to do a second dose of Norco, start the four hour mark at that time then take 2 Norco at her next dosing. My daughter, thanks to Roni, was able to get some immediate pain relief which helped her wait for her surgeon’s morning visit when he decided to change her to something stronger. Roni also noticed that my daughter’s gown only covered her because the IV blocked putting her arm in a gown so Roni went the extra mile to put a snap gown on her making her feel more comfortable. To my amazement, Roni turned to me then and asked if I needed anything. WOW! Thank you for having Roni. She made the difference in helping my 15 year old daughter feel less pain. I later saw her sharing what she chose to do about managing my daughter’s pain.
