Rosa Honjo is one of our Administrative Coordinators at our facility. Rosa was recognized for the care and compassion she provided to a patient and family. A 96-year-old patient fell at home, was hospitalized for Thanksgiving and scheduled for surgery the day after. Our patient was upset that she would not be preparing the meal for her family or providing the Thanksgiving prayer. With the assistance of our 4th floor and dietary teams, Rosa made arrangements for the patient and her 30 member family to use the Bayou room (a large meeting room) for their Thanksgiving feast. Rosa made sure the room was decorated, helped with getting the patient down in the bed and monitored her as she attended the meal. In addition, we learned the patient's husband died in a surgery a few years back. We are sure this was weighing heavily on the family's mind as they prepared for the upcoming surgery. Rosa's thoughtfulness provided the family with extra time to enjoy the holiday tradition with their loved one.
