Rosa helped our mother so much when she was hospitalized for a broken hip. Rosa was scheduled for four days in a row, and we were thankful to have the consistency of her care and that of the team working with her. The caregivers worked together and communicated with our family about her care and managed her pain both as she waited for surgery and after surgery.
Rosa was very caring when preparing our mom for surgery, and she offered to call us when she knew our mom would be going back to our room after recovery. She was especially attentive after surgery when the effects of the anesthesia caused our mother to be quite confused. She called me at home the next day to report on our mom's night. When she heard that my husband and I were heading to his father's memorial service that day, she was very sympathetic. It was a trying week for our family, and Rosa and her team helped greatly. I asked that she communicate mainly with my sister and brother for the next day and she was happy to do so. Her team, our family members, and our mom also enjoyed humorous and light moments during her days in the hospital. This helped our mom's hospitalization be more tolerable and pleasant.
Rosa's decision making during our mom's care was excellent. She made the decision to assign an aide to provide continuous interaction and orientation to decrease our mom's post-surgical confusion. She sensed our mom's needs, and she and her team responded to them professionally to help ready her for the transition to a rehab facility.
