When I came to work this morning, I discovered that a long-time elderly patient appeared close to death. We have all become attached to her and she doesn't receive many visitors. Our co-worker, Sally, has a wonderful, sweet disposition and defines "having a servant's heart!"
Her shift was over and she clocked out just to go to the patient's bedside. Sally stayed with her and spoke softly to the patient until her family arrived. She said she was afraid she would be all alone and die with no one there. Sally always shows such compassion and shines with God's grace.
Another patient told Sally how his mother used to make Applesauce Pie for his family, how good it was and how he missed it. Two days later, Sally came into their room with an Applesauce Pie for the patient! She found the recipe online and was told it was delicious. The family said Sally truly went above and beyond to make them feel so special and they are very appreciative for a special nurse like Sally.
