My husband had bypass and aorta valve replacement surgery in November of this past year. He was fortunate to have Sara Daily as his nurse upon his arrival to ICU/CCU. Sara was calming, reassuring, and kind to our family as she cared for my husband in the first hours post-surgery. She kept us apprised of what she was doing every step of the way. She communicated with my husband in such a way you would not know he could not verbalize, but his body movement responded to her kind tone. When my husband displayed discomfort, Sara was by his side immediately checking things, questioning, and using her skills to make him comfortable. It became obvious that Sara was also the go-to nurse for several newer staff caring for patients nearby. She answered their questions, gave assistance, and never missed a beat in the care of my husband. Everything was always in a professional, caring manner. My family and I were confident in the care Sara was giving, allowing us to step away from his side for a short time without worry. It was obvious that Sara serves as a role model/preceptor on her PCA. When assisting staff, she was actually mentoring them as she gently guided them to think through situations and identify next steps. The care my husband received from Sara was without reproach.
