I was admitted to 3S Medical from ER with blood in my urine, a lot of it. I was very frightened and had to have a lot of testing. Shannon Spencer was my nurse and she explained the tests to me, the IV meds, the continuous bladder irrigation, and the pain meds. She helped me to the bathroom so many times the first day, taking off the SCD's, using the gait belt, and was so patient and kind.
Shannon was genuinely concerned with my comfort and well-being. When she catheterized me, she was gentle and efficient and got a surgical nurse to verify all the connections on the irrigation system. I thought that was great teamwork. Shannon reassured me, let me know what to expect, and gave great care. It meant so much to me and I'm grateful I had her as my nurse. I feel she is deserving of the DAISY Award.
