Smita is very professional and awesome on her job. She is patient, professional and she took time to understand the patient's needs and concerns. She is also very good at follow-up on a patient's concerns. She stayed on top of things until a resolution was found. She made sure we were heard, understood and validated. She took the time to genuinely address our concerns, followed up with the doctor for us and kept us informed. My husband was admitted in ICU and she was our nurse for 3 nights. During the evening my husband's ECG rhythm got so irregular all of sudden, she was so fast and did EKG, called the doctor, and started the medication. After one hour of medication infusion, his rhythm was still the same, she requested the night time doctor to come at the bedside and she asked if they could change the medication. The nightdoctor called the specialist doctor and changed him to the same medication which she suggested him to start on. As soon as another medication was started my husband's heart rate was controlled. I was crying the whole time, she came to me and hugged me which made me so relieved. She explained the whole story to me and my daughter. My husband was almost unresponsive at that time, we lost hope but he came out from ICU and finally got discharged from the hospital.
My husband is a very tough man, he hardly connects with anyone but he loves Smita. After 3-4 days, unfortunately, Smita was not our nurse that night but she came to see us, I will never forget the smile on my husband's face that night. When I said my husband did not eat much that day, she brought Ensure and made him drink. The most amazing thing is my husband drank the whole bottle of Ensure that she gave.
Her selfless care to everyone was so appreciated. One day they could not get an IV on my husband. many nurses tried multiple times to insert an IV and he was so bruised. As soon she came on next shift, she started a new IV on the first stick! She proved she is the best! She went way above and beyond to ensure our every little need was taken care of even when she didn't have to. We are extremely grateful for her kindness and want everyone to know what she meant to us during our time in the hospital. Thank you, Smita!
