Stanton Porter is one of our most expert nurses in the Emergency department. He has always had a passion for promoting wellness and health in our nursing profession. Many people do not know that Stanton served our country in the military serving in Guantanamo Bay. He has extensive experience in Psychiatry and is pursuing his DNP in Psychiatry.
Through his research and collaboration with our physician team, Stanton has helped create new protocols for our psychiatric area of the ED and orients all new nurses to the psych-specific aspects of their job. Further, Stanton is our CPI instructor. CPI teaches strategies to recognize and avoid situations which could escalate to violence and harm. I admire Stanton's initiative to use his expertise to improve safety practices at the University.
Stanton is a role model and well respected by his peers, physicians and the security staff. I feel that his passion for safety, and care of patients with psychiatric needs make him an extraordinary Nurse.
