Steve Linman is deeply appreciated by patients, families and colleagues. In July, he cared fora married couple, they both entered the Hospice House around the same time for end of life care. The family recently wrote the following to Steven:
"We just want to thank you personally for the wonderful care you provided to our parents during the time they were in hospice. Everyone there was wonderful but from the time you welcomed Dad upon his arrival on July 15 through the next 5 weeks, your care and attention was above and beyond. Your attendance at the funeral was greatly appreciated.
It seems as we work our way through this process and talk about the time in hospice your name often comes up and with that there are a few tears as we remember your wonderful manner with Dad. He so appreciated you allowing him to retain his dignity. When Mom arrived so unexpectedly your care for her was so calming and we knew that was her wish but intuitively you seemed to know it too."
This was a very touching note but there is more to this story. The staff would routinely get the couple together in one room so they could see each other and be with each other during their last days of their life. This often times required moving beds together in the same room especially as they grew weaker. The wife passed a few days before he did. Steven arranged a toast with the husband acknowledging and remembering the 60 wonderful years they had together.
Steven comforts patients and families by his quiet, calm manner. He has a special gift of singing which he shares quietly, calmly and beautifully with his patients and families. He is truly dedicated to those he serves. We are blessed to have him on staff in our System of Care.
