I was admitted to 5 South after being treated in the ED. It was supposed to be just a short stay, but things took a turn the following day. Susan was my nurse and prior to the incident was very pleasant. I called out to tell her when I thought I was having another reaction, and she immediately came to my room.
As my reaction progressed, she called in another nurse and then the ARNP. I don't remember a lot after that, but what I do remember very clearly is how calm Susan was as the care escalated. Everybody in the room was calm.
The way Susan initiated and helped in that crisis, I would have thought she did it every day! It is difficult to remain so calm, but of course, we all know it is critical for things to run smoothly. Susan and the staff of 5 South really deserve a huge high five for their work that day. Not only did they remain calm, but I was transported talking and breathing on my own.
My family and I will forever be grateful for the excellent and timely care I received on 5 South. Thank you to all of the staff who responded that day, especially Susan for being so attentive from the beginning.
