I was on vacation in the USA earlier this year and I ended up at your hospital on the first floor with a terrible kidney infection. I was very sick and extremely scared to the point that I started experiencing panic. Landing in the hospital can really ruin one's vacation, but if it weren't for the Kidney infection I would have never met a wonderful human being as is Nurse Susana, with her pregnant belly and all, she took it upon herself to care for me and my husband who was just as much a basket case as I was. Nurse Susana contacted case managers and social workers as well as the finance department to help ease our anxiety due to the bills that were adding up, she advocated for me as I couldn't communicate due to my language barrier. Susana kept looking for a private room for me as my anxiety was increasing and I had an episode where I started screaming in desperation and scratching the wall as I felt like I was trapped in my own body. Susana grabbed a wheelchair and wheeled me to the healing garden and sat with me while helping me to catch my breath again. After she found a private room for me, my husband and I were able to sleep. A few days later, I was able to leave the hospital and she looked for the cheapest place to get my prescription filled as we were already out of money. I will always be grateful to Nurse Susana for her kindness and her willingness to provide excellent care to me and my husband. Not all nurses hold your hand, not all nurses pray with you, not all nurses help you eat when you are too weak to grab a spoon, not all nurses ignore that they are hurting to make sure the patient is not, not all nurse are like Susana. I am alive and well thanks to her, I will never be able to pay her back, so this is something I can do for her. Please recognize her for being an excellent human being, andanextraordinary nurse. Thank you, Susana, thank you and 1,000 times thank you.
