Terry Cook, RN Support Team

After 20+ years of working in surgery, Terry made the drastic change to Hospice of Cincinnati Support Team. She went from standing in an operating room for hours on end to driving over 100 miles on any given shift. She went from doing everything possible to keep her patient alive to doing everything possible to allow her patient a peaceful death. She went from having equipment, supplies, medications, and staff at her fingertips to entering a patient’s home by herself with virtually nothing. No one would have ever guessed Terry had to make such an extreme adjustment as it was a seamless transition. Her clinical skills are exemplary. She is thorough and efficient with every visit. She is willing to go anywhere anytime and do anything. Her empathy and compassion for her patients and their families are abundant. Terry is the type of nurse I would choose to have for my loved one or even myself.
Excellent patient care is not the limit of Terry’s contribution to the Support Team though. She recently initiated a major change in the triage design. She had the insight to recognize the need for more nurses to be trained on triage and have regular opportunities to maintain those skills and that knowledge in order to provide our patients with the best possible care and improve job satisfaction among the nurses. Terry is now an integral part of this restructure.
Terry is an invaluable asset to the Support Team and Hospice of Cincinnati. She has a unique combination of clinical expertise, compassion, forward thinking, and impeccable integrity. She is truly a living example of the Hospice of Cincinnati mission and what nursing is all about.
