I was admitted with ITP in July 2017 and left with a new friend, Terry! Thankfully with ITP, I've felt fine, aside from the stress of hospitalization and daily/weekly watching platelet counts. Each day was just a stressful waiting game of morning blood work and afternoon count updates and several days of not quite meeting the goal to leave. It was such a stress (and boredom) relief to have check-in chats with Terry and just talk personally on a bunch of random topics. It truly took my mind off the waiting. I felt like Terry was in it with me, rooting each day for increased platelet numbers. She even checked in with me on her day off, knowing that my counts should be close enough to possibly go home. Just having her positive, supportive energy with me on those days and the personal chats were such an incredible relief for me. I am so appreciative. I really felt someone was rooting for me. And when I mentioned to Terry that the morning blood work really hurt, she had them switch to a smaller needle, so I dreaded the 5 am draw much less. I hope not to return to 2B again but do hope to keep in contact with the incredible team I met. And I do consider Terry a new friend. Thank you all so much!
