The other day Nurse Terri saved a man's life at lunch. He began choking on a piece of food and in all of the chaos she rushed over to give him the Heimlich Maneuver. This caused him to spit up whatever it was. This note is to recognize her hard work and how quick to action she was. This goes to show how wonderful our nurses are here at Hamot. I would like to give a big thank you to nurse Terri for saving lives.

In healthcare, supporting each other in the roles that we practice is something that we hold at the highest regard as we care for patients, families and each other. The teamwork that has developed is engrained in our environment on 6 South. Our 6 South Family encompasses not only our nurses, PCTs, HUCs, but also our other department team members. EVS, CM, NP/PAs are only a few who make up our extended family.
One of those members stands out for 6 South. She serves as a strong patient and staff advocate, PCT, dietician, and physician extender, just to name a few. As one of our family members she hangs her coat here, has a locker and puts her lunch in the fridge. When staff are asked to describe her they say that she is "compassionate, a joy to work with, extremely thorough, team player, walks with patients and gets them water, goes the extra mile, knowledgeable, listens to nurses and patients and then comes up with solutions, and dependable." To put it simply, "we love her" and we are "glad she is part of our team".
For these reasons and many more, Terri is a DAISY Nurse. We are proud that we can call her part of our 6 South Family.
