It had been a long couple of shifts for Tiffany. She had a patient that was facing end of life, but sadly was a young adult. To make things more challenging, the patient had a difficult family dynamic. Security had to be called to handle some of the family members and the patient had to say goodbye to her young daughter. The mother and aunt of the patient were emotionally drained, confused and just needed to rest, so they had gathered enough money to get a motel a few miles from the hospital. While Tiffany was handing off report, she heard the mother saying that they were going to start walking to the hotel. It had just snowed the day before and was still very cold, so Tiffany offered to give them a ride and help with whatever they needed. Seeing this was so humbling. As nurses, we have all had days that leave us feeling drained and we want to leave work as fast as we can. Even though this was true, Tiffany saw a need and wanted to help. It is nurses like Tiffany that show patients and peers that no matter how rough it may get we are always looking out for the needs of others.

Tiffany demonstrates selflessness and compassion for her patients and their families every day. Her love for nursing and call to care for others is evident in her day to day interactions.
