I was admitted to St. John Macomb Hospital in the late evening due to an irregular heartbeat. At 76 years old, I have had some unusual even rare health problems that complicate diagnosis. By Sunday afternoon, it was decided a pacemaker was necessary.
Tracy Tiller was on duty Sat, Sun and Monday. She had students two of those days. While accomplishing regular nursing duties, she explained the procedures and described the situation clearly and succinctly giving our family insight and awareness of the situation. At the same time, she informed and enlightened with compassion, dignity, and graciousness. She acknowledges her students respectfully and sincerely, including them equally. She presented assurance of the staff's competency and efficiency in all aspects of testing, evaluating, and procedures. For me and my family, her attitude was comforting. If learning from a nurse such as her not only her students were wisely informed- we could be optimistic and confident as well.
As a teacher for more than 30 years, I was impressed with her abilities at reaching others. She eased and informed through practical actions, sensible communication and an insightful demeanor.
Note: This is Tracy's second DAISY Award!
