Comments from the ED Manager: “Trudy is a proven caring and compassionate nurse by standing out as a team player and a role model when taking report and accepting patients. Trudy is a very capable, dependable, caring and overall excellent addition to our department. Always punctual, willing to assist any team member with even the most unsavory tasks, has a very pleasant attitude and caring bedside manner and is therefore a role model to all staff, especially nurses. Currently pursuing bachelor’s degree in an effort to further her own education. Makes an extra effort to educate patients and families on treatment and prevention of conditions commonly seen. Continues the tradition of educating fellow nurses on the techniques and skills gained by Trudy’s nursing experience. Very much is a deserving nurse of the DAISY recognition.”

Visitor – “I arrived approximately at 10 p.m. to the hospital to bring a neighbor/friend who has cancer and was very sick. Trudy was assigned to us. As I observed this nurse, it brought to mind the “old times” when a nurse was truly a nurse. Trudy was compassionate, caring and extremely pleasant. Trudy was attentive to my friend’s needs. I also observed Trudy working with other patients. Trudy walked into their rooms with a cherry smile and Trudy walked out with a smile. Do people know how that puts you at ease to see your nurse smile? If it was left up to me to personally choose the nurse who gets this award, it would be our nurse Trudy. And, I would have other nurses follow Trudy around for a day so they could learn the art of caring. She is an angel in disguise.”
