This is the second time Urszula has won this award. She won it a year ago, nominated by a physician. This time, she was nominated by a patient, who wrote:

"I never anticipated coming to the hospital for one thing, and then hearing a cancer diagnosis. I tried to smile through my confusion, especially at night when I had no answers and lots of questions. Though a kindergarten teacher, I never knew how special a kind touch and tender words can be during times of uncertainty and pain. On one such occasion, I could find no comfort other than the cold floor. Urszula came to me there and stroked my back and assured me that things would get better. It didn't stop the pain or the tears, but for a brief time I became comfortable. I fell asleep and I remember a sheet covering me. I heard her say "I'll be back (patient's name), I'll be right back." I felt assured in that and she did come back. I don't recall how long it took, but I remember feeling better, that I would not have to push the nurse's button because she would not forget about me. I had a lot of questions and she did answer many. I didn't hear her name called a lot so I assumed that everyone had that same feeling that she'd be back to see about them. I've been here for more than 2 weeks and so I made connections; this is one that I am blessed to have made.

Touch is a healing that one person gives to another. Urszula has that touch. I don't think it's something that you are taught. I know it to be a blessing that God gives to a selected few. I'm glad Urszula was that one for me. If it were with but a touch or soft kind word to heal, then there would be no more patients."
