Val came to A3 from the float pool and we feel like we really did win a prize. Val often pitches in and helps others on the unit. She steps up and offers to do admissions. She gives 100% of herself to her patients every day she is here. Clinically, she stays on top of her patients’ condition and she gets many compliments. She is an example for all five core behaviors.

Obviously, Val Mitchell has something very special. She has been nominated, I believe this is the third or fourth time, and I cannot think of a more deserving nurse. She has been recognized by several patients during rounds as “excellent”, on top of issues, communicating with patients and families and letting them know what was going on with labs-physicians-meds-pain and so on. These patients recognized that she is kind, caring and extremely professional. They voiced how much they “trusted” her.

A couple of times we have had scheduling issues. There was an error one day, not of her fault, but when she found out she dropped what she was doing and came in as soon as possible and she lives 45 minutes away. Now that’s team work!

Thank you Val, for everything you do for our patients and your co workers.
