As a recent Lymphoma patient at the hospital, few others have the up-close and personal accounting of how this nurse impacts patient care in the way that I do. Valerie provided outstanding service in her work with patients in the clinic, always having time to discuss with me all my options, test results, reactions and what would come next. She always shared with me, along with my family, her exceptional patient and family educational skills, keeping everyone on track and in the loop with a positive attitude. She was not only my coach and mentor on the many occasions I was sad, and unable to focus, she not once left me without being my advocate. She always told me "you are perfect just the way you are" each time I exhibited down moments and felt insecure. I steadfastly maintain that the world would be a much better place, if there were more Valerie Stiners in it.
