My husband, J, has multiple myeloma. He was rushed to the hospital for the first time in June which kept us there into July. It was at this time we met Valerie. She was so fun to talk to and joke with. My husband loves to joke and play pranks; she was able to keep his spirits up. She would ask questions about home too. That is when she learned we live 3 ½ hours away and have four kids. When he was discharged we were told to take it easy until the next round of chemo. J was brought back in by ambulance three days later. He was in bad shape. Valerie was not one of his nurses for our first few days there, but when she saw he was back she came in to see him and check on me. Finally five days later, she was J's nurse. We were very excited to have her. She came in joking around and laughing as always. Being so far from home and coming from another ER, we needed clothes washed. She had a few options for us, but said she wouldn't mind taking the clothes home and washing them herself. She was amazing. On that same day J started losing his hair from the chemo. He was sad and wanted it cut. She had a pair of clippers and offered them to buzz off J's hair before it all fell out. She sure has been an angel. She is so caring, fun, and goes above and beyond from what we ever expected from a nurse.

Valerie has been so wonderful with the care of my brother. He has been in and out of this hospital for seven months now. She always takes the time to make him feel comfortable and special. We really appreciate her compassion.
