A few months ago Vanessa had a patient who was under a year old. Vanessa came out of the patient's room very emotional and took some time to compose herself. I gave her a hug, and she said the baby's mother was in another country. The mother was on the phone watching what was happening with her son, and she was crying which had made Vanessa emotional.
I have witnessed another side of the medical field working as a volunteer for McLane's, and Vanessa's compassion and caring in a difficult situation was very touching to me as well as to the patient's family. I had the opportunity to talk to the mother of the patient, and she too expressed gratitude for the care her child was receiving.
